Shirley update

Shirley Karl, my mother-in-law, passed away Sunday morning.

(January 11, 1935 – October 5, 2014)

For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

  1. Dennis and Jenny So Sorry to hear of Aunt Shirley passing. You sound like you have had quite a year! Was almost going to stop by if open this past week-end .Fred had mentioned lets go but stayed closer to home.My sister was at Blake’s cider mill and was thinking of Aunt Shirley but did not know exactly were she lived. You and your family are in my prayers at this time.Don’t know details of her funeral to pay our last respects. When I come to the end of the day and the sun has set for me,I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?Miss me a little, but not to long, and not with your head bowed low.Remember the love we once shared,Miss me,but let me go. For this is a journey we must all take and each must go alone. It’s all part of the Maker’s plan, a step on the road to home. When lonely and sick at heart go to friends we know,Andbury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go. My cousin died Sept 7, and had this poem on her card. I thought it was good to share.Take care Cheryl (Karl) Arakelian

    • Thank you for your kindness and wisdom! It has been a difficult time most recently, but, also very rich with blessings and faithful friends. Shirley died peacefully in her sleep with family present. Thank God for family members who were by her side 24/7 during this journey. Since I ‘left’ my part-time job, (and as I re-gain some control over my life(?)), I’m hoping to re-establish ‘regular’ hours in the shop! Shirley’s memorial service was held last night in a Lutheran Church in near-by Romeo.
