When I am an old sheep woman…

jenny_photo

When I am an old sheep woman,

I shall wear muddy boots and beautifully knitted wool sweaters

And a felted hat that suits me just fine.

And I shall spend my pension on herb tea and cookies

And fine treats for my sheep and goats, and say we’ve no money for bread!

I shall sit in the hay mow with a faithful collie and kitten in my lap

And listen to ‘my girls’ softly baaing below.

In Spring I shall lay down in the meadow

With kids and lambs all around and drink fresh goat milk

When suddenly, I am an old sheep woman.

  1. Beautiful. I don’t want to wear purple and red, either. Grin. Perhaps we should all write our own poetic “old woman” plan. Long live individualism.

I really love your poem. Forget individualism. Perhaps I’ll join you in your dream.

  2. Like I have said in the past, kindred spirits. I finally got a shetland/BFL mule ewe this summer, and two of my alpines are still giving me sweet milk. I made cottage cheese yesterday. The scene at the top of your blog looked like me this week, border collie and snow.

  3. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure
why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same results.

    • Uh oh…hmmm??? That’s not good! I wonder if it’s an ‘older’ post and perhaps attributed to technical updates by WP beyond my control? When I ‘use’ other authors’ pics, I always try to give credit/source. Perhaps the original source no longer exists and that results in an issue with loading/access??? As you see, I’m not much of a techy, I do apologize for any confusion! I know it also frustrates me when I go surfing. I don’t have speedy quick internet access or cable or anything and try to do the best with my limited resources/knowledge. Thanks for the feedback!
